Geology
Callide Coal Measures of Late Triassic age, generally dipping at less
than 10 degrees, with local steeper dips near faults. Four coal seams
are present: Marker - 3.5m av; Callide - 16m; Sawmill - 3m av;
Bottom - < 3m. Only the upper three seams are worked. The Callide
mine covers the Dunn Creek, Boundary Hill, Trap Gully and The Hut
areas.
Mining Method Open-cut using draglines with truck and shovel prestrip for
overburden removal.

Transport
Callide has two railheads at 110 km and 140 km from the Port of
Gladstone to service the Boundary Hill and Southern (formerly
Callide ) Pits respectively.
Preparation plant Crushing and screening at Boundary Hill and ROM jigs at the main
Callide plant.
Product Coals Medium ash sub-bituminous thermal coal.
