Host Rock/Cover Sequences |
Comerford's Quarry (ML 7246) and Ablatio Pty Ltd (ML 50007) cover a major historical source of sandstone for Brisbane, and several |
early pits were situated here. These include Millers, Jude's, University and old State quarries. There has been a succession |
of owners of these. Millers quarry was purchased by the State Works Department in the early 1920s and later sold to P J Lowther & Sons. |
From the 1960s it passed in succession to J H Wagner & Sons, R C Ziegler Quarries and T Spratt. In 1985 the portion of |
Spratt's property containing the southern pits was purchased by T Comerford (now on ML 7246). In 1987 the Helidon Sandstone |
Company Pty Ltd purchased the remaining portion of Spratt's property (Lots 1&2 on RP 204795, parish Helidon). |
