Kunwarara is situated in a shallow fresh water sedimentary basin in which extensive flat lying sheets of loosely consolidated fresh water |
sediments were deposited during the Tertiary and Quaternary. |
Sheet like magnesite deposits were developed within the upper portions of these sediments due to weathering and erosion of nearby |
serpentinite and subsequent enrichment through diagenesis. |
The deposit is considered to be the world's largest cryptocrystalline magnesite deposit.
